Veronica anagallis-aquatica  Water Speedwell
PERENNIAL.  The slightly irregular four-petaled flowers, with the lower petal smaller than the other three, are characteristic of genus Veronica.  Smooth, opposite, sessile, clasping leaves identify this species.  A summer riparian wildlflower; grows in sand near running water.  In the Empires, rare in Davidson Canyon and its larger tributaries.
