Tecoma stans  Tronadora, Yellow Bells
DECIDUOUS SHRUB.  Medium-sized shrub, often frost-pruned since smaller branches tend to freeze back in cold winters.  Roots are usually anchored in rocks and sprout multiple thin woody "trunks" and long arching branches.  Large bright green opposite pinnate leaves have pointed, toothed leaflets that are variable in width.  Large, showy trumpet-shaped yellow flowers.  May bloom in spring after wet winters, but most new growth appears after summer rains.  Rare in the Empires at higher elevations in small bedrock-floored canyons.  Often cultivated.
FAMILY:  Bignoniaceae  (Trumpet Vine Family)
