Opuntia chlorotica  Pancake Prickly Pear, Tree Prickly Pear
CACTUS.  Upright, treelike, with a short distinct trunk.  Pads pale grayish green, circular, with abundant areoles.  Central spines may or may not be present.  Glochids and spines pale tan, providing little color contrast with the pad and giving the plant a monochromatic appearance.  Flowers small, yellowish green, followed by small green spiny fruit that usually shrivel before ripening.  An upland plant in the Empires, frequent on rocky hilltops and granite tors.
