Mimosa dysocarpa  Velvetpod Mimosa
DECIDUOUS SHRUB.  Usually 1-2 m tall, with bipinnate leaves and elongate flower clusters that are bright pink at first, fading to white.  Stems armed with recurved needlelike prickles.  Pods are about the same length as the flower clusters, and densely hairy.  Blooms in summer after rains.  Common throughout the Empires on hillsides, washes, etc.  In winter, similar to Acacia greggii but thorns are smaller and branches usually weaker.
