Mentzelia albicaulis  Whitestem Stickleaf
ANNUAL.  Plant erect or semi-erect and sprawling, covered with short, rough, white hairs.  Older stems white, young stems pinkish green.  Leaves highly variable, from narrow and entire to triangular and deeply divided into linear lobes of various sizes.  Flowers bright yellow, about 1 cm, with five shiny round petals that may be tipped with a tiny point.  Seed capsules narrow, slightly flared (narrow at the base, wider at the tip).  Blooms February-June.  Occasional on recently disturbed ground.  M. multiflora is smooth, with larger flowers, narrower leaves with shorter lobes, and larger, cylindrical seedpods.
