Houstonia rubra  Red Bluet
PERENNIAL.  Very short, no more than 5 cm tall.  Tufts of succulent, cylindrical, light green leaves with tubular four-petaled pink to lilac flowers.  Blooms in April.  Rare in the Empires on gentle sunny slopes in mixed gravel.  Common name may seem incongrous for this species, but is derived from H. caerulea of the Eastern U.S.
