*Erodium cicutarium  Filaree, Storksbill
ANNUAL.  Prostrate, radiating fuzzy red stems have hairy leaves that are finely dissected into many sharp-pointed segments.  Small (1 cm) purplish-pink 5-petaled flowers bloom in February-April.  Long pointed seedpods split and curl when ripe.  One of the earliest spring wildflowers, common on bare disturbed ground, often in overgrazed areas.  Invasive exotic, native to Europe.  E. texanum is native, less common, with dark green lobed leaves, larger flowers, and longer seedpods.
