Echinocereus rigidissimus  Rainbow Cactus
CACTUS.  A small, solitary, cylindrical cactus with no central spines.  Radial spines are white, pink, or red, giving the stems a color banded appearance, hence the common name.  Thicker and more cylindrical than the other small cacti, and the only one without central spines.  Flowers bright pink with white centers, blooming in June-July.  All plants in the area bloom at once, and flowers last only one or two days.  Common throughout the Empires.
