Astrolepis windhamii
XEROPHYTIC FERN.  Leaves dark green, pinnate.  Leaflets with 3-7 shallow, round lobes.  Speckled with tiny white star-shaped scales on the upper surface; lower surface covered with felty white or pale tan scales.  Similar to Astrolepis cochisensis but leaflets are a bit larger and more distinctly lobed.  Usually restricted to limestone and marble.  In the Empires, uncommon on small semi-shaded outcrops in limestone, green siltstone, and mica schist.
